Basic Switch Transport Management

Geoff Myers

Category: Carrier-Based Networking

Length: 32 hours

Prerequisite: None

The Alcatel-Lucent 4ESS and 5ESS class switches support a multitude of applications that can be configured to coexist, allowing carrier operators to implement different applications more cost-effectively. Therefore it is important that carrier technicians have a thorough understanding of the components, architecture, applications (ISDN, SDN, 800#, 911) and basic management tasks needed to operate and maintain these carrier-class products. Additionally, as carrier-class telecommunications evolves into Internet Protocol (IP), technicians need a thorough understanding of Ethernet services, network architecture, gateways, and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). This course includes basic and advanced translations, ISDN, provisioning, tools, and troubleshooting.
