Prerequisite: CFOT or CPCT
This course develops the practical understanding and skills required to properly design, install, and maintain fiber-optic networks in telecommunications, broadband, and premise (LAN) applications. Participants study the latest fiber-optic technology and equipment in conjunction with appropriate terminology, operating procedures, and policies. Sessions incorporate skill sets on preparing, installing, splicing, and connecting optical cables. Sessions on testing and troubleshooting optical fiber networks enable participants to increase efficiency, reliability, and on-the-job safety, as well as to reduce cost and downtime.
