Grounding and Protection for Telecommunications Systems

Geoff Myers

Category: Telecommunications Design & Distribution

Length: 8 hours

Prerequisite: None

In order to prevent injury and equipment damage an effective telecommunications bonding and grounding system must be in place. With the complexity of today’s infrastructure, with little margin for outages, any system, including the grounding and bonding network, can be the weakest link. Participants in this course will learn about the standard for Telecommunications Bonding and Grounding Planning and Installation Methods for Commercial Buildings (NECA/BICSI 606-2011.) While this standard supports related standards, such as the NEC and ANSI/J-STD-607-A, Commercial Building Grounding (Earthing) and Bonding Requirements for Telecommunications, additional requirements and information for components and connectors of these systems are also included in this course. The detailed installation methods and practices covered in this course will minimize potential grounding system failures.
