Category: Fiber Optics
Length: 32 hours
This course covers all aspects of successful fiber-optic system configuration and connections. After a brief review of correct terminology and critical standards, participants study hardware selection and splicing/termination methods. Cable system testing and troubleshooting procedures are emphasized, with appropriate documentation to industry communications standards. Concepts and skill sets are developed through practical applications and case studies of both multimode and single-mode fiber systems. Proper use of equipment, hardware, and procedures pertaining to safety, building distribution, and campus applications are integrated throughout the course. Participants are introduced to installation techniques for factory-polished, no-epoxy/no-polish connectors as well as for hand-polished, anaerobic connectors.
